Sunrise VS Sunset: Pros and Cons For Your Photoshoot
Alright, let’s get into it! This is one of my most asked questions when it comes to photoshoots:
Is sunrise or sunset better for photos?
Short answer? Both are equally as amazing and you can’t go wrong with either. However, each offer a completely different vibe, experience, and photo outcome!
Below, I’m going to show you 2 different photos from the same exact location; but each at different times of the day. I wanted to do this to showcase that even though it’s the same location, you can see the differences in the vibe when it comes to shooting at sunrise vs. sunset!
Here’s a breakdown:
Sunrise:
less people
golden, bright light
soft pastel colors after the sunrise
usually calmer water
able to shoot on the south/windward side of the island
have the rest of the day for your shoot!
*I LOVE love sunrise for film photography add-ons!
Sunset:
do not have to wake up as early!
harsh, vibrant light until a creamy, golden sunset
waves
able to shoot on the north/west side of the island
end the night cuddling up on the beach catching the final beams of light before the sun goes down
Location matters, too!
Whatever your preference or vibe is, we can shoot at any location no matter if it’s sunrise or sunset; but just know that we will get a different outcome.
If we shoot on the Windward side for sunrise, we will get those bright golden lights. If we shoot it at sunset, we will get cool tones because the sun is behind the mountain! So those are just a few things to keep in mind when it comes to deciding whether sunrise or sunset is best for you.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions and I’m more than happy to help guide you in the right direction if needed. Can’t wait to connect with you!
