Laid-back Beach Anniversary Photoshoot in Oahu Hawaii

What better way to celebrate your one year marriage anniversary than visiting the beautiful islands of Hawaii and capturing your love with a laid-back sunrise photoshoot!? The whole vibe just felt easy + simple; it was perfect!

This shoot was perfect in every possible way. The couple wanted to do a sunrise session to capture soft, dreamy light and wanted the shoot to feel intimate and intentional. We ventured out to the windward side of the island which is typically best to capture the sunrise and we got to spend an hour shooting and enjoying one of the most dreamy, soft, and glowy sunrises I’ve seen to date! That early morning wake-up call is always a struggle, but sunrise shoots are worth it for this exact reason.

Sunrise or Sunset?

Sunrise or sunset? It’s one of the most common questions I get when it comes to deciding what time of day you want your photos captured! You truly can’t go wrong with either, because both are ideal in terms of lighting!! Here are a few key differences that you can consider when deciding:

Sunrise:

  • golden hour

  • cool morning light

  • early wake-up call

  • minimal sky haze

  • avoid large crowds

  • dreamy + soft light

  • dependent on location

Sunset:

  • golden hour

  • warmer tones

  • longer window to shoot

  • blue hour

  • typically larger crowds

  • more time to plan for weather changes

  • dependent on location

Whatever you decide, you can’t go wrong with either! If you have any questions or are ready to book, reach out to me here and I can’t wait to chat!
