Hawaii Cliffside Elopement
Kullen and Kayla had the sweetest intimate Cliffside elopement in Hawaii. Kullen and Kayla were stationed here in the military, and live in Hawaii. They had their big wedding day all planned out, with their family and friends, for July 2020. Like so many other couples during this pandemic, their original day had to be canceled, and they had to change their wedding date. Eventually, with their plans still up in the air of when they would be able to actually have their wedding, Kullen and Kayla decided to elope.
It was such a crazy time in the world, and in Hawaii. Hawaii was on lockdown, so no tourists were allowed to visit Hawaii during the time of their elopement. They had their first look at sunrise in Waikiki. If you’ve ever been to Waikiki, you know how crowded and crazy it can get. It reminds me of Disneyland with thousands of people sunbathing on the beach, and walking around town. It was such a special and unique moment for these two, the beauty of Waikiki and the most amazing view of diamond head, with not another person around. I will never forget the feeling of being at Waikiki, with an empty beach.
Having the whole city to ourselves was so much fun. We got such amazing photos of the soon to be bride and groom running around town, in the streets, by the local surfboard rental shop and on the secluded beach. After the first look session, Kullen and Kayla headed back to the hotel to get ready for their Cliffside elopement. They got to talk with family, and friends and get out their nerves over FaceTime.
We then, headed to the east side of Oahu, for their cliffside elopement. This side of the Island was also very quiet and intimate for their official elopement. We went to the most beautiful spot, a cliffside beach surrounded by Hawaii’s blue ocean, palm trees and rocky tide pools. It was the perfect place for their day.
For the ceremony, it was just the bride and groom, the officiant and I. K+K still wanted to find a way for their family and friends to be there, so they set up a zoom with all of them on the mainland, so they could still be a part of their day. They recited their vows with the prettiest backdrop, and popped champagne after they were officially Husband + Wife! We all had the best time, and I am so glad I could be apart of their special day. Although it wasn’t that big wedding that they dreamed of, K+K wouldn’t have traded it for their perfect and intimate elopement.
